Football season kicks off with a bang

The 2008-2009 regular season in professional football is nearly upon us. With this new beginning comes hope for all 32 teams in the National Football League and their fans that this may be the year they finally make it "over the hump" and win the Super Bowl.

Mocs swimming prepares for new season

The pool at Florida Southern College will be hot this year because the swimming team looks to be a strong group of men and women. There are 20 freshmen added to the already fantastic team from 2007-2008. These added freshmen bring the team totals to 14 women and 15 men.

FSC welcomes new Norwegian swimmer

The upcoming season for the men's swim team at Florida Southern College should be interesting and thrilling. For freshman Espen Urdahl, he sees it as an opportunity to show off his talent in the United States. Originally from Oslo, Norway, Urdahl has been swimming a great portion of his life.

Water ski team ready for season

Some students at Florida Southern College have never heard of the water skiing team. However, many of the team members are nationally recognized in their respective countries, record holders, and all are looking to make a big splash this season at tournaments held all across Florida and the surrounding region.

Intramural field construction leaves students worried

Last week marked the time when FSC students made their way back to Lakeland to begin the 2008-2009 school year with renewed excitement. Along with beginning their studies, the prospect of starting a new Intramural football season was also on the horizon. However, many students arrived at campus and gazed across the Hollis parking lot to find Callahan Field a tangled mess of dirt piles, grass patches, and concrete pipes.

Softball looks ahead

Chris Bellotto, head coach of the Florida Southern College's Softball team, and assistant coach Jeff Lang can be found discussing plans and strategy for what they feel will definitely be a better season than the last. After what would be considered an excellent season by most, 29-14, the team was left on the bubble having to wait to find out there postseason fate.
