Students returning to FSC this semester were greeted by the all-too-familiar sound of construction echoing from all sides of campus from the mound of dirt overlooking the lake, but luckily the 50-year-old Panhellenic building has been replaced by the first of two Barnett residence halls, Wesley Hall.
As always seems to happen to me, yet another summer has gone by much faster than I had anticipated and once again I find myself back in the exciting, if not a bit exhausting, environment which accompanies the beginning of a new school year. However, I found the excitement of my return to Southern's campus tempered by a sense of sadness as I realized that my senior year would mean that I will never again return to a new school year as a student.
Remember all the things you were told as you were given a tour of FSC? All the cool statistics and reasons they gave you as to why FSC was such a good school. "We have a student to teacher ratio of 14:1?" "Teachers actually care about their students, they are more than just a student number?" "We are ranked in the Top Ten (insert fancy sounding list of your choosing here).
As the new academic year begins, I can't help but notice the flutter of Moc pride shown on this campus. The entering class of Florida Southern scholars brings new life to an already-blossoming campus. Florida Southern gear is selling in mass quantities in the bookstore and students are taking part in many exciting programs designed to promote campus unity and spirit.
