Dr. David Grossman, an assistant professor of international business and marketing, recommended Mitchell.
"I am not sure why I was chosen for this story. I feel like most stand out students have a 4.0 and do nothing but study," Mitchell said.
"Maybe I was chosen for this story because it's not all about the GPA. I definitely don't have a 4.0. It's about the love [of] learning and sharing knowledge with others," Mitchell said.
Mitchell, a marketing management major, is graduating this May with a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a communication Minor.
Mitchell chose this major because of an experience in high school.
"I was the chief marketing officer of the Academy of Entrepreneurship," Mitchell said. "Through this experience early in my life I learned that I had a passion for business and marketing."
She wishes to one day work for a marketing agency and eventually become the director of marketing for a company.
Florida Southern College runs deep in her veins. She is the fourth generation to attend this college, but that wasn't the reason why she chose to come here.
"It was the best fit for me. I love the small classes, and living on campus," Mitchell said. "Going to college is not only about the education in the classroom but also the experience of being a college student. Florida Southern provided me the opportunity to become who I am today."
FSC's marketing management class helped prepare Mitchell for her job. Her class formed the Southern Communication and Marketing campaign.
"I served as the agency coordinator and oversaw the creation, implementation and evaluation of a marketing campaign for Michael Holley Chevrolet," Mitchell said.
"SOCOMM received the Scholastic Achievement Award for a campaign and had the opportunity to present the campaign to Chevrolet Executives. The classroom activity turned into a real life experience and I am thankful that I was able to apply what I have learned," Mitchell said.
Mitchell gained many experiences in her classes at FSC.
"I have learned how to be professional, and this skill will be helpful for me as I enter into the business world," Mitchell said.
